@shoegal – I think it’s an way for the Missoni to grow their brand awareness. I think Target has done a really good job of making these “designer for Target” product lines good for consumers, while protecting the brand. Since the rise of the recessionista, these types of partnerships are more popular and “accepted”. Even celebs were tweeting about the bikes (which are super cool). You obviously can’t get close to the Missoni quality, but I was surprised at the quality of the flats & children’s clothing. Agreed that plastic plates are still plastic plates – regardless of design.

While I love Missoni. I would much rather wear none of it than buy the cheap target version. Just because the label says Missoni doesn’t mean its made like the real thing. Everything that was left in my store looked like typical target clothing. It wouldn’t last more than a year. As for the home goods…Plastic plates? just because it says missoni doesn’t make it right! I wish I would I have bought my share so I could put it on ebay for all the suckers out there
