Chic for Cheap: Mossimo Katherine Boots versus Frye Harness

Do my eyes deceive or has Target’s Mossimo brand come out with a boot that’s an identical twin of the ever popular Frye Harness 12R boots? Upon inspection, the only difference appears to be the $150+ price difference!

Pictured Right: Mossimo Katherine Boots (comes in black and brown) - Retail $49.99
What impressed me the most is that the Mossimo Katherine boots are constructed out of real leather (unlike many lookalike boots that are made out of synthetic materials), has “thermoplastic” (aka a blend of rubber and plastic) soles, a cushioned insole and non-skid tread…for less than $50. Regardless of how they look, these are a super steal. My understanding is that when they were first release in late 2009, they sold-out almost instantly. Now, lucky for you, they seem to have re-stocked. What’s even better is that Target will ship them free if you spend $50 (try finding something in Target’s clearance section).
Of course, the Frye Harness 12R boots has Neoprene oil resistant sole, Wellington vamp, Goodyear welt construction and nicer hardware. But, for the price, you could purchase both colors of the Mossimo boots and still save over $100.
I’d love to hear from folks who own one or the other – what do you think?
