Chic for Cheap: Alexander McQueen’s McQ for Target

In March, Target will launch a new program, Designer Collaborations, aimed at fashion forward customers on a budget. The ongoing line, which will debut with British designer Alexander McQueen’s line, McQ, will provide reputable designer names at affordable prices. The collection was inspired by Leila Moss, a blonde British bombshell and lead singer of The Duke Spirit. McQueen based the line off of her 90’s rockstar style, allowing an edgy but feminine feel. It features dark, muted tones with bright accents and bold details, and will come out in March. It will consist of a broad range of pieces, from dresses to trenches, from swimsuits to jumpsuits. Hot pink and royal blue compliment the dark tones that dominate the line. Jackets or vests paired with ankle booties complete the various looks.

Fashion or Faux Pas: MBT Shoes (The Anti-Shoe)

Let me start by saying in my opinion, these shoes are ugly… but… so are Uggs and I live in those in the winter. And for that matter, so are Crocs and I buy two pair for my son every summer! So what does that mean? It means sometimes comfort trumps ultimate style, at least when it comes to shoes. Anyone agree?

MBT (an abbreviation for Masai Barefoot Technology) shoes have been on the market since the mid 1990s and have marketed themselves as a fitness brand. They were developed by Karl Muller after researching the Masai Tribe in East Africa; that tribe walks on instable, too soft ground and therefore used their body to maintain balance. Apparently Mr. Muller found this to be great for strengthening core muscles and preserving good posture so he created a shoe to simulate walking on that same soft ground.
After doing much reading on the MBT shoe brand I have learned a few important things I want to pass on to Dealio shoppers before you decide you can’t concentrate on these ugly shoes any longer… MBT’s barefoot technology is used in sports training, medical rehabilitation and in everyday casual use. The benefits to wearing the shoe, according to the MBT site are: improvement in posture, toning and shaping of the body, relief to back, hip, leg and foot problems, reduction in stress on the knee and hip joints, and more!

This is a subject near and dear to my heart, and one that causes my husband to look at my like I’m “crazy” or “over-the-top” about… organic baby bedding. With all the gadgets and products out there for your baby, like baby wipe warmers and strollers that can practically walk themselves, the thought of a natural mattress or bedding set might come across like just another gimmick. You might change your mind though after reading about some of the harmful chemicals used to make crib mattresses and other bedding items, considering your baby (hopefully!) spends many hours a day sleeping on these items.
To get technical, there really is no such thing as “truly” organic bedding since it is not a product of agriculture. Fashion Scoop: Spring Dress Trends at Every Budget

Spring is just around the corner, or at least I hope it is, so it’s time to start taking a look at the latest trends out there for spring fashion. We’re not talking about ‘runway-model looks’ here; Dealio is going to show you what is wearable and what is hot for Spring 2009…whatever your budget!
After much reading and researching I have found that there are several trends for this coming season, many of which have carried over from the autumn and summer. For example, the color hot pink is supposed to be big this year, as are oversized necklaces and bangle bracelets. However, we are going to devote this segment of our “looks for less” publication to spring dresses.
Let’s take a look at the two hottest styles out for warmer weather:
No matter the length, a big trend for Spring ‘09 is the floral dress. You can’t walk past a window at your mall without seeing one! Personally I am thrilled the maxi dresses are stylish still; what’s more comfortable during a hot day than a long, flowy, cotton dress?
