Circuit City Files Bankruptcy – Black Friday Implications?

Posted by Julia on November 11, 2008 in Black Friday Deals

The economy seems to have taken its toll on Circuit City, a leading nationwide electronics superstore who has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Over 150 stores will be closed across the country. In addition to the significant number of store closures, Circuit City has reduced the workforce at their headquarters in Virginia. The company intends to honor returns, exchanges, and gift certificates and to operate as normal until the situation is rectified. Take advantage of their generous price matching policy while you still can!

In an email sent to Dealio, Circuit City wanted to point out that filing for Chapter 11 does not mean that they are going out of business and that they, “are committed to being the destination of choice for all our guests’ electronic needs…”

What this means for the consumer is that this year’s Circuit City Black Friday sales could be huge – giving them a chance to blow out their existing merchandise.
