Shop Green: A Detergent That Cleans and Greens
Posted by Beryl on October 1, 2008 in Eco-Friendly

Generally speaking, we all have routines. I, for example, do my laundry on Thursdays and since before I can remember I have been using a typical store detergent. All I needed to know was how it made my clothes smell but more than that, I wasn’t too interested in the ingredients list. About 4 months ago, I changed it up. I broke my routine and bought a detergent that was a little more, shall we say, green.
Most detergent companies aren’t required to list their ingredients in detail. As consumers, we get terms like “surfactant” or “washing soda” or “brightener.” Many detergents contain phosphates, these wind up in bodies of water and can fuel the growth of algae, depleting oxygen and killing fish.
Suffice it to say, a green detergent does more than just clean your clothes, it helps keep our world clean. Mountain green is having a 20% off sale on their new Lavender scented detergent. The smell passed my test for cleanliness and the ingredients pass my test for earth-friendliness!
