Fashion or Faux Pas? Custom Designed Shoes by Zazzle

Posted by missmelon on August 7, 2008 in Fashion

Zazzle has introduced the first on-demand custom shoe design service.  I’m not knocking on Zazzle as I’ve used their custom t-shirt printing service and found it easy and reasonably priced.  However, designing shoes seems like a much more complicated process and I’m not sure if it’s an aesthetically good idea to let people walk around, proudly displaying shoes with Fluffy, the cat, printed on them.  But, I guess that’s a choice you get to make.  Zazzle has partnered with Keds brand of shoes to offer three different styles – slip on, mini slip on or lace up for men, women and kids.  Prices range from $50-$60 per pair.  I can see where this idea may have originated as I’m sure I’m not the only one to have scribbled designs on my Keds during class.  Please leave a comment if you get a pair made – I’d love to see the final result.

People who make bad fashion choices probably won’t be helped by the shoes, but they probably are already at the point where it won’t hurt them. There are some brilliant and cool designs up there so it’s a great outlet so far, in my opinion
